When Skate 3 released in 2010 nobody was under the impression that it would be the last true skateboarding game for the next seven years. Unfortunately, EA has all but abandoned the franchise, and since Tony Hawk's Pro Skater has become completely irrelevant, the sub-genre has had little hope.

However, a development team by the name of Creature Studios is making a big move. Looking to create a proper EA Skate 3 spiritual successor, the studio of skateboarding fans is creating a game called Session, and since it isn't backed by a big publisher it'll rely on crowdfunding via Kickstarter.

The campaign will begin on November 21st, and to help raise awareness the studio has released a fully playable demo. It might be PC exclusive, but at least it's free, and the official release will have console versions.

The demo build looks a lot like EA Skate, although since it's an early prototype it has a lot of bugs and some very finicky controls. Its 1.2GB in size and features a small skate park with rails and plenty of ramps.

From what we can tell, this is just about the only skateboarding game coming to current-generation hardware, so for that reason we're hoping everything goes well.
